I N V E S T I G A T O R

There’ll be meetings today and visits at jail,

There’ll be interviews and report readings,

There’ll be contacts here and contacts there,

Messages and memos, timelines, and timeframes,

And there’ll be delays and hurry-ups.

This will be a normal day, just a day of work

As an investigator.

Can’t say how all will end,

But I know it will all be worthwhile.

Don’t know what will be said,

But I know I want to hear it.

And I won’t know who’s effected by what I do,

But I know I’ve got to do it.

Today I’ll make something out of seemingly nothing.

I’ll change the way others think.

I’ll convince wrong to right

And I’ll move the foundations of stability.

What was once secure will be shaken,

And a few will decide for all.

And after I cross over the last barrier I’ll realize,

That which remains is better than that which was.

I’ll know that what I’ve done today

Begins to displace tomorrow.

I am an investigator.

I work to ensure the blindness of justice

Has no lacking of facts.

I’m an investigator,

And the prevailing of liberty

Cries out for my service.

I pray for strength in this great responsibility,

And my strength comes from God.

Bless us and our country dear God.

I’m an investigator, and may God bless me,

And God bless America.
